Starting the adventure to Yala Peak Trek & Climb to Langtang Valley from Kathmandu with overland drive towards northern Himalaya range of Langtang at Rasuwa district located in Langtang National Park the nearest park from Kathmandu. The area extends from 32 km north of Kathmandu to the Nepal – China (Tibet) border.

Our adventure leads past at the end of Langtang valley and at Kyanjin Gompa with panorama of Ganesh Himal (7,405 m) Langtang Lirung (7,234 m)  Ghengu Liru (Langtang II – 6571m), Kimshun (6,745m) and Shalbachum (6,918m) to the south Chimsedang Lekh forms a ridge of peaks which includes Naya-Kanga (5,846m) and Gangchempo, Tilman’s beautiful Fluted Peak, extends beyond towards Jugal Himal, terminating in Dorje Lakpa (6,980m/22,929ft).

To the east the upper meadows of the Langtang end in a massive mountain wall, forming the frontier with Tibet.

Trip detail:

Day 01:            Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport via respective airlines and countries, received by Foot and Shadows Walking Holiday staff and transfer to hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed our guide will brief with information on hotel, culture, do’s and don’ts and Yala Peak Climb with welcome dinner.

Day 02:            Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
After breakfast our city guide will take you on sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites with temples, monasteries, stupa’s and old king’s palace after an enjoyable interesting tour back to hotel, preparation for the trek to Langtang and Yala Peak climb.

Day 03:            Drive from Kathmandu – Syabrubesi 1,460m. 7-8 hours.
Morning an overland drive to north of Kathmandu to reach Syabrubesi, passing interesting towns and farm villages and Trisuli Bazaar with sub-tropical climate, from Trisuli Bazaar drive further climbs leaving warmer low region to cooler area, as the weather and culture changes.

On reaching Dhunche at 1,965m, a major town of Langtang area and Rasuwa district and the entrance of Langtang National Park.

Drive continues downhill for two hours to Syabrubesi village for overnight stop.

Day 04:            Trek to Lama Hotel 2,240m -06 hours.
Our first day walk from Syabrubesi leads uphill for a while but the rest of the walk is on gradual and winding trail through terraced farms and villages, as the trail descend to join a path of upper Syabru near Riverside.

From here another hour walks into dense forest to reach a small clearing at Lama Hotel for overnight stop.

Day 05:            Trek to Langtang village 3,430m – 05 hours
From Lama Hotel morning walk leads into a river gorge following Trisuli River upstream, leading to a climb into rhododendron and oaks forest after few hours walk, arriving at Ghoretabla in the middle of the forest, after a pleasant stop walk continues for another few hours to Langtang village through forest and crossing streams and leaving tree line behind.
Walk gets better with few ups and down till Langtang Village is reached for overnight stop.

Day 06:            Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,850m – 04 hours.
From Langtang village of Tamang and Bhotias tribe, morning walk leads on gradual path for a short while, then winds up for few hours encountering “mani-prayer wall” where walking clockwise direction is the right way, walk leads further east as the gorge opens up into a splendid valley with meadow and views of snow capped peaks at close distance.

After a good walk of 3-4 hours reaching at Kyanjin Gompa, a beautiful place with panorama of mountains and the closest peak Langtang Lirung at above 7,000m with icefall, here check in a nice cozy lodge, afternoon a leisure walk to a cheese factory established 20 years back by Swiss Technical and local support.

Day 07:            Rest-Day for leisure for hike around.
A rest day to enjoy and marvel the super views, an ideal spot for leisure hike to nearby hill Kyanjin Ri at 4,700m high.

This will add more heights of this adventure, offers fantastic views of wide snow capped peaks, visit the cheese factory with rest of the day at leisure.

Day 08:            Trek to Yala Peak Base Camp 4,400 m / 14,435 ft – 06 hours.
On leaving Kyanjin Gompa for the highlights of this trip, walking along the rocky glacier and then to a steep climb through icy trail to reach a flat camping area of Yala Peak base camp at 4,400m. Base camp offers outstanding views of Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri, Yala peak and others peaks till Yala base camp is reached for the first camp of this trip after being in the comfort of a lodge, base camp with marvelous view of high massif surrounding mountains.

Day 09:            Trek & Climb to Yala Summit 5,732 m / 18,806 ft to base camp.

Starting early before dawn for the big day of this adventure, walk leads to climb to the summit depending on weather conditions. This peak is less technical but it takes nearly eight hours to reach the summit and back to base camp. After a strenuous climb to the summit at 5,732 meters and 18,806 feet, on reaching the top where dream becomes a reality with an overwhelming success, from top of the summit overlooking striking panorama that surrounds you with world’s highest mountains lies before you.Yala summit offers breathtaking views of Shishapangma, Dorje Lakpa, Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri, Langtang Lirung and many other mountains in Tibetan side, after an enjoyable and magnificent moment on the top descend back to base camp.

Day 10:            Reserve and contingency day in case of bad weather.

An extra day as contingency day, in case of unfavorable weather conditions some times in this high Himalayan range, the weather can be unpredictable, so an extra day on this type of adventure is very necessary, if all goes well can be used on the way back on route Syabrubesi, adding a short day walk enjoying the great scenery along the way.

Day 11:            Return to Kyanjin Gompa -05 hrs.

Leaving Naya Khang base camp, trek to Kyanjin Gompa following the icy trail that steeply descends offering marvelous views of massif Himalaya, enjoying the rhododendron forests and cross the Langtang River gently ascend to reach the village of Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 12:            Trek to Lama Hotel – 06 hrs.

After an enjoyable climb of Yala Peak and at Kyanjin Gompa around high Langtang valley, morning a long day walk but on pleasant trail with downhill most of the way catching up with the views and scenery through Langtang village and Ghoretabela, following Langtang Khola for few hours enjoying walk through cool shade of forest and back at Lama Hotel for overnight stop.

Day 13:            Trek back to Lama Hotel 2, 470m -06 hours.
After a great time at Kyanjin Gompa, return back on the same trail to Lama-Hotel a small settlement in the midst of the forest at the bank of upper Trisuli River.

Day 14:            Trek back to Syabrubesi -06 hours.
Trek today follows on the same route for an hour, then after the bridge walk is pleasant through bamboo forest, on leaving the river walk downhill through farm terraces till Syabrubesi is reached for overnight stop.

Day 15:            Drive back to Kathmandu – 06 hrs journeys.
Last day of this memorable trip ending with an exciting drive down hill back to Kathmandu on taking the same route all the way, at Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with farewell dinner in typical style.

Day 16:            Depart Kathmandu for international flight homeward bound.
Last day in amazing Nepal, after a wonderful time around Langtang Valley and Yala Peak climbwith grand services of Foot and Shadows Walking Holiday Tours, as per your international flight reporting time, our staff transfers you to airport for your onward flight homeward bound or to next respective countries.

Typical trekking day

While we are in trekking our day starts with warm wake up tea/coffee. After refreshing ourselves, we pack our luggage and proceed for the breakfast. As day sets off, considering the altitude and acclimatization, we walk slowly towards our next destination. The group will be guided and accompanied by our trained government licensed guide. Throughout the day, we will take frequent rest breaks to take photographs, treasure the landscape, confront the culture and admire the fascinating mountains and sceneries. A 1 to 2 hour relaxing lunch break is usually taken except when crossing the passes. After the lunch break, we will at least spend 2 to 3 hours more on the trail before reaching the next lodge. Before the dinner, we might enjoy a short walk through the local village, photographing etc. After the dinner, you will be briefed for the next day program.

Accommodation and Meal Accommodation in Kathmandu:  you will stay at a high standard or equivalent standard hotel, including breakfast, on a sharing basis. During the arrival and departure periods in Kathmandu, you can go for dinners to the best restaurants of the city with the different authentic cuisine.

Accommodation during Trekking : you will stay in the stander mountain lodges as per defined itinerary destination. Please be aware that single rooms are not available. Though there are blankets available at the lodges, we recommend bringing your own sleeping bag. In most of the lodges, you can enjoy continental, Italian, Tibetan and local cuisines except while crossing the passes. Our day will start with warm wake up tea or coffee and followed by breakfast, lunch and dinner. Upon arrival in the lodges at the end of the day, some tea. The entire beverages during trekking likewise wine, juices, beer, Coca, mineral water etc is paid by the client her/himself.

Accommodation During Peak Climbing:  You will stay in tented camp. All your food, (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) and other hot drinks will be prepared by our cook.

Helicopter Rescue

While traveling in the Himalaya you may suffer for the various health problems, injuries and even the altitude sickness. Hence you have to prepare before upcoming destination is this mountain land. Make sure that the policy of the insurance company should cover the process of giving you the service of Helicopter rescue from the mountains in case of Altitude Sickness or other accidents during your trip.
