From Annapurna base camp, adventure begins climb of Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli using high camp at 5,200 m for more accessibility to reach the summit, which is a straight forward climb with much technical difficulties in some sections on the route to summit top.

Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli stands at 5,663 m /18,575 ft with grade for climb rated PD + (Peu Difficile / a little technical difficult and walking on glaciers) the grade used as Swiss / French Alpine Climbing System.

Trip in detail:

Day 01:            Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport via respective airlines and countries, received by Foot and Shadows Walking Holiday staff and transfer to hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed our guide will brief with information on hotel, culture, do’s and don’ts and Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli Climb with welcome dinner.

Day 02:            Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
After breakfast our city guide will take you on sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites with temples, monasteries, stupa’s and old king’s palace after an enjoyable interesting tour back to hotel, preparation for Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli Climb.

Day 03:            Drive or fly to Pokhara 950m – 06 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.
Morning travel by tourist coach or in private vehicle on the scenic highway towards amazing Pokhara valley driving leads through Himalayan foothills, on arrival at Pokhara transfer to respective hotels close to beautiful Phewa Lake with afternoon free for short walks.
( flying option a 30 minutes flight to Pokhara)

Day 04:            Drive to Nayapul 1,100m begin trek to Ghandruk 1,750m.
Morning 2 hours drive from Pokhara heading towards mid hills towns and villages. Superb views of rolling landscapes and Annapurna mountain range including the majestic Mt. Machapuchare “The Fish Tail” on the drive to Nayapul (new bridge) located on the Pokhara-Baglung / Beni highway.

From here starting our adventure with gentle walk through nice village of Bhirethati, encountering trekkers, mules and donkey trains, as our walk leads through farm villages following the Modi river for some time, and then with an uphill in neat stone paved trail to reach our first overnight stop in the mountain village in Ghandruk a large and major villages around d Annapurna region.

The Gurung the main habitat of this area are famous as gallant soldiers and mercenaries in foreign army legion with British and Indian Gorkha battalions.

Day 05:            Trek to Chomrong 1,951m – 06 hours.
Morning walk leads to the top of Ghandruk village with a short climb, and then trekking on a gradual path for a while with uphill to Kimrong ridge with 4-5 tea shops and lodges, from here our route descends to Kimrong valley into cool forested area. On reaching Kimrong River and the village an uphill climb for few hours to the top of Chomrong village.

From the top a short downhill to overnight stop at Chomrong village.
This is the last permanent Gurung village and the gateway to Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp trek.

Day 06:            Trek to Dovan 2,130m via Bamboo 2,050m – 06 hours.
After Chomrong a short downhill walk on terraced farm fields and to Chomrong River. After crossing bridge an uphill for an hour to Sinuwa danda a small place with few lodges and great views of landscapes and green hills.

From here through forest to Bamboo a small settlement, located by the Modi River in the middle of bamboo, rhododendron and oaks forested area.

An hour walks up from Bamboo to Dovan for overnight stop, situated in the middle of forest and river gorge.

Day 07:            Trek to Machapuchare Base Camp 3,720m via Deurali – 06 hrs.
From here onwards air gets cooler and fresher entering towards Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp. Walk leads on a pleasant winding path with few ups to Himalaya Hotel near at Hinko Cave, located beneath Hiunchuli peak.

Walks leads on glacier and moraine formed by old avalanches, crossing a small bridge near Deurali the last place with lodges before reaching Machapuchare Base Camp. Here onwards vegetation and tree lines disappears with only high alpine bushes and shrubs. Walk leads to a climb following the raging Modi River upstream to reach at Maccahapuchare Base Camp for overnight stop. A well hidden spot with few lodges located beneath North Face of Maccahapuchare Peak, from here onwards starts the Annapurna Sanctuary.

Day 08:            Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4, 095m -04 hrs.
Morning walk with views of Annapurna Mountains heading high on grassy uphill slopes, reaching higher elevation at Annapurna Base Camp with close up views of magnificent Annapurna peaks with Annapurna I a massive mountain.

After a good scenic walk reaching at Annapurna Base Camp for lunch with free afternoon to marvel the mountain views and relax.

Day 09:            Rest day for acclimatization at Annapurna Base Camp.

Rest day for acclimatization and preparation for the climb of Tent peak, here our guide will instruct you with climbing techniques and skills, rest of the day just relax and enjoy the mountain views.


Day 10:            Trek to Tent peak Base Camp 4,450 m / 14,600 ft – 05 hrs.

After Annapurna Base Camp, our route leads across snow-covered moraine rocky path and towards icy trail for an hour reaching at Annapurna south glacier.


Walk offers views of high peaks, after few hours of good trek reaching a flat ground to make our base with camps, first night camping in tents, afternoon free preparation for the climb.


Day 11:            Trek to High Camp 5,200 m / 17,056 ft – 04 hrs.

We have added more camps for easy accessibility to the summit top, from base camp heading further with steep climb over rock and glacier with lot of boulders, climb continues reaching high camp at 5,200 meters high, afternoon free preparation for the summit.


Day 12:            Climb Tent Peak summit and return to Base Camp – 06 hrs.

A Big Day! Early morning climb over snow slope which is steep with technical section to reach the summit; our expert guide will fix ropes where necessary for the climb to reach the summit safely, after a hard and tough haul reaching the top with amazing views of high mountains that surrounds you.


After feeling high and on top of the world descend back to base camp.


Day 13:            Trek back to Annapurna Base Camp – 05 hrs.

Morning after breakfast from base camp, after cleaning up and packing head back to Annapurna Base Camp via an icy trail, a normal moderate walk of about five hours to overnight stop at Annapurna base camp in the comfort of lodge.


Day 14:            Trek to Bamboo 2,050 m – 06 hours.
After grand time Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli Climb around Annapurna Sanctuary, morning walk downhill all the way to Deurali, from here with few ups and downs back into tree lines reaching at Bamboo for overnight stop.

Day 15:            Trek to Jhinu danda 1,700m via Chomrong – 06 hours.
From here a short steep climb to Khuldi Ghar, and on winding downhill through dense forest to Sinuwa danda. From here descend to Chomrong khola. After the bridge an uphill walk for less than an hour to reach Chomrong village. After Chomrong with half hour climb to the top of Chomrong ridge and then walk down to Jhinu danda for overnight stop. This village on a ridge offers refreshing bathe in hot springs which is just 20 minutes walk downhill by Modi River.

Day 16:            Trek to Bhirethati 1,100 m and drive back top Pokhara.
Morning downhill for an hour to another New Bridge (Nayapul) by the Modi River, from here following the River Modi downstream all the way to Bhirethati via Syali Bazaar / Bhatti on the earlier route, on reaching Syali or Bhirethati drive back to Pokhara.

Day 17:            Drive to Kathmandu.
Morning a drive to Kathmandu after a wonderful experience adventure to Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli around Annapurna base camp, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities and shopping.

Day 18:            Depart Kathmandu for international flight homeward bound.

Typical trekking day

While we are in trekking our day starts with warm wake up tea/coffee. After refreshing ourselves, we pack our luggage and proceed for the breakfast. As day sets off, considering the altitude and acclimatization, we walk slowly towards our next destination. The group will be guided and accompanied by our trained government licensed guide. Throughout the day, we will take frequent rest breaks to take photographs, treasure the landscape, confront the culture and admire the fascinating mountains and sceneries. A 1 to 2 hour relaxing lunch break is usually taken except when crossing the passes. After the lunch break, we will at least spend 2 to 3 hours more on the trail before reaching the next lodge. Before the dinner, we might enjoy a short walk through the local village, photographing etc. After the dinner, you will be briefed for the next day program.

Accommodation and Meal Accommodation in Kathmandu:  you will stay at a high standard or equivalent standard hotel, including breakfast, on a sharing basis. During the arrival and departure periods in Kathmandu, you can go for dinners to the best restaurants of the city with the different authentic cuisine.

Accommodation during Trekking : you will stay in the stander mountain lodges as per defined itinerary destination. Please be aware that single rooms are not available. Though there are blankets available at the lodges, we recommend bringing your own sleeping bag. In most of the lodges, you can enjoy continental, Italian, Tibetan and local cuisines except while crossing the passes. Our day will start with warm wake up tea or coffee and followed by breakfast, lunch and dinner. Upon arrival in the lodges at the end of the day, some tea. The entire beverages during trekking likewise wine, juices, beer, Coca, mineral water etc is paid by the client her/himself.

Accommodation During Peak Climbing:  You will stay in tented camp. All your food, (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) and other hot drinks will be prepared by our cook.

Helicopter Rescue
