From Gosainkund return trek back to Kathmandu crossing Lauribina-la / Gosainkund pass at 4,609 m / 15,100 ft high offering panorama of snow capped peaks, then a long descend passing villages of Kutumsang-Gulbhanjyang and Chisopani to reach Sundarijal located on the rim of Kathmandu valley.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01:         Arrive at Kathmandu 1,300m and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02:         Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
Day 03:         Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460m- 07 hours.
Day 04:         Trek to Lama Hotel 2,240m -06 hours.

Day 05:         Trek to Langtang village 3,430m – 05 hours
Day 06:         Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,850m – 04 hours.
Day 07:         Rest day for local hike and to enjoy the views.

Day 08:         Trek to Lama Hotel 2, 470m -06 hours.

Day 09:         Trek to Thulo Syabru village 2,118m – 06 hrs.

Day 10:         Trek to Singh Gompa / Chandanbari 3,254 m – 05 hrs.

Day 11:         Trek to Gosainkund 4,381 m / 14,375ft – 05 hrs.

Day 12:         To Ghopte Odar 3,566 m cross Laurabina-La 4,609 /15,100ft.

Day 13:         Trek to Kutumsang 2,445m – 06 hrs.

Day 14:         Trek to Gul Bhanjyang 2,125 m – 05 hrs.

Day 15:         Trek to Chisopani Danda 2,195 m -05 hrs.
Day 16:         Trek to Sundarijal 1,380m with an hour drive to Kathmandu.
Day 17:         Transfer to Airport for the International departure.

Day 01:         Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport via respective airlines and countries, received by Foot and Shadow Walking Holiday staff and transfer to hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed our guide will brief with information on hotel, culture, do’s and don’ts and Langtang Valley & holy Gosainkund trekking with welcome dinner.


Day 02:         Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
After breakfast our city guide will take you on sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites with temples, monasteries, stupa’s and old king’s palace after an enjoyable interesting tour back to hotel, preparation for the trek to Langtang Valley & Gosainkund.


Day 03:         Drive from Kathmandu – Syabrubesi 1,460m. 7-8 hours.
Morning an overland drive to north of Kathmandu to reach Syabrubesi, passing interesting towns and farm villages and Trisuli Bazaar with sub-tropical climate, from Trisuli Bazaar drive further climbs leaving warmer low region to cooler area, as the weather and culture changes.


On reaching Dhunche at 1,965m, a major town of Langtang area and Rasuwa district and the entrance of Langtang National Park.


Drive continues downhill for two hours to Syabrubesi village for overnight stop.


Day 04:         Trek to Lama Hotel 2,240m -06 hours.

Our first day walk from Syabrubesi leads uphill for a while but the rest of the walk is on gradual and winding trail through terraced farms and villages, as the trail descend to join a path of upper Syabru near Riverside.

From here another hour walks into dense forest to reach a small clearing at Lama Hotel for overnight stop.


Day 05:         Trek to Langtang village 3,430m – 05 hours
From Lama Hotel morning walk leads into a river gorge following Trisuli River upstream, leading to a climb into rhododendron and oaks forest after few hours walk, arriving at Ghoretabla in the middle of the forest, after a pleasant stop walk continues for another few hours to Langtang village through forest and crossing streams and leaving tree line behind.
Walk gets better with few ups and down till Langtang Village is reached for overnight stop.


Day 06:         Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,850m – 04 hours.
From Langtang village of Tamang and Bhotias tribe, morning walk leads on gradual path for a short while, then winds up for few hours encountering “mani-prayer wall” where walking clockwise direction is the right way, walk leads further east as the gorge opens up into a splendid valley with meadow and views of snow capped peaks at close distance.


After a good walk of 3-4 hours reaching at Kyanjin Gompa, a beautiful place with panorama of mountains and the closest peak Langtang Lirung at above 7,000m with icefall, here check in a nice cozy lodge, afternoon a leisure walk to a cheese factory established 20 years back by Swiss Technical and local support.


Day 07:         Rest-Day for leisure for hike around.

A rest day to enjoy and marvel the super views, an ideal spot for leisure hike to nearby hill Kyanjin Ri at 4,700m high.


This will add more heights of this adventure, offers fantastic views of wide snow capped peaks, visit the cheese factory with rest of the day at leisure.


Day 08:         Trek back to Lama Hotel 2, 470m -06 hours.

After a great time at Kyanjin Gompa, return back on the same trail to Lama-Hotel a small settlement in the midst of the forest at the bank of upper Trisuli River.


Day 09:         Trek to Thulo Syabru village 2,118m – 06 hrs.
From Lama Hotel walk leads to another route heading towards Upper Syabru or Thulo Syabru, at bamboo place where our walk diverts uphill to Thulo Syabru for overnight stop.

This village of strong traditional Tamang Buddhist / Bon culture, houses beautifully carved windows and doors.


Day 10:         Trek to Singh Gomba / Chandanbari 3,254 m – 05 hrs.
After Thulo Syabru climb through dense forest of lovely rhododendron, oaks and pine trees with views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal and as far to Manaslu and Annapurna Himalaya, a steep climb but with exciting walk into beautiful forest with varieties of rhododendron species, passing summer pasture on the pleasant winding trail to Singh Gomba / Chandanbari village with a small cheese factory and old monastery perched on top of the village.


Day 11:         Trek to Gosainkund 4,381 m / 14,375ft – 05 hrs.
Morning walk leads uphill through beautiful coniferous forest with views of Annapurna, Manaslu Mountains towards west and Langtang Himal range in the north as the walk passes small settlement with lodges and huts at Laurabinaya where tree line drops for small bushes of juniper and dwarf rhododendrons.


Walk continues with a climb reaching top notch of west Laurabinaya pass at 3,932 meters via Cholang Pati and Laurabinayak from here a short descend to holy Gosainkund for overnight stop. An interesting spot with tranquil environment, afternoon short walk around the lake and to hill top for impressive views of mountains of Langtang and Ganesh Himal.


A holy place with glacial lake where thousands of Hindu pilgrims, as well Buddhist and Shaman (Witch Doctors) visits here on festival held around “Jani Purnima” in the month of August as per the Hindu / Buddhist Lunar calendar.

Day 12:         Trek to Ghopte Odar 3,566 m cross Laurabina-La 4,609
/15,100 ft – 07 hrs.
After Gosainkund walk follows towards east of the lake, and then a climb to a rocky ridge basin with two more frozen small ponds of Suraya kund,
from here a walk for an hour leading to a climb towards high ridge and a pass at East Laurabina-La 4,609 m / 15, 100 feet also known as Gosainkund Pass.


From here with panoramic views of mountains and hills, a long descend to the bottom to Phedi (bottom or base) with few lodge and teahouses.

After a break here continue walk reaching back into tree lines of lovely juniper, rhododendron and pines forest, a steady walk of few hours reaching at Ghopte Odar (over hanging cave) for overnight. A place in the midst trail to Gosainkund, Helambu and to Kathmandu with small and simple lodges.


Day 13:         Trek to Kutumsang 2,445m – 06 hrs.
Morning walk leads further east and towards south directions to reach at Tharepati 3,597 m, located on route Helambu area placed on a ridge with grand views of snowcapped mountains, rolling hills and valleys.

After possible lunch stop continue walk with long downhill through nice dense forest to Kutumsang farm village inhabited with Sherpa, Hyalmo and Tamang people.


Day 14:         Trek to Gul Bhanjyang 2,125 m – 05 hrs.
After a pleasant overnight walk leads to Gul Bhanjyang village on route to Kathmandu, starting with gentle winding path through farm land and small forested area leading to more descend passing many small villages and farm fields, ending the day at Gul Bhanjyang village.


Day 15:         Trek to Chisopani Danda 2,195 m -05 hrs.
Today walk leads to more villages with beautiful scenery of landscapes and mountains, leading to short climb and then on gentle trail for an hour and then heading downhill to a nice village at Patbhanjyang located on a basin between hill ridge.

From here another two hours walk with short steep climb to Chisopani Danda for overnight stop.


This beautiful spot houses nice 5-6 lodges with panorama of mountains and stunning sunrise.


Day 16:         Trek to Sundarijal 1,380m with an hour drive to
After catching the sunrise views over array of snow clad peaks, morning walk leads with long downhill through forest and farm lands around Tamang villages, and then reaching upper Sundarijal (beautiful water) supply clean drinking water to Kathmandu city.


From here another hour downhill to Sundarijal town for a short drive back to Kathmandu, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels around Thamel area with whole day free for individual activities with farewell dinner in typical Nepalese style.


Day 17:         Depart Kathmandu for international flight homeward bound.
Last day in amazing Nepal, after a wonderful time Langtang Valley & Holy Gosainkund trekking with grand services of Foot and Shadow Walking Holiday Tours, as per your international flight reporting time, our staff transfers you to airport for your onward flight homeward bound or to next respective countries.
