Starting this overwhelming journey with an interesting overland drive to Jiri town (known as Switzerland of Nepal) where most of the early pioneers and mountaineering expeditions used this classic route to Everest, walk follows interesting rural Sherpa and Rai communities farm and villages with scenic views of mountains and landscapes.

After week of great walk in the quiet trail of Jiri reaching on the mainstream of trekkers trail to Everest Base Camp, at Phakding and famous Namche Bazaar at Sherpa capital here with time to relax and acclimatize before heading higher altitude.

Walk leads through beautiful forest to famous Thyangboche Monastery with views of Everest and majestic Ama-Dablam peak and adjoining mountains, from here on arid and windswept country to Everest base camp after passing smaller settlement of Dingboche-Lobuche and Gorakshep.

After a wonderful time at base camp with soaring peaks then a climb to the highest point of this trek at Kalapathar 5,545 m, and then ending this fabulous Jiri to Everest Base Camp trekking in Lukla with short flight back to Kathmandu with wonderful service of Foot and Shadows Walking Holiday Tours and its cheerful guide and staff.

Day 01:            Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:            Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.

Day 04:            Trek to Bhandar (Chyangma) 2,195m – 05 hrs.

Day 18:            Trek to Thyangboche – 05 hrs.
Day 19:            Trek to Monjo 2,860m – 06 hrs.
Day 20:            Trek to Lukla 2,820 m – 04 hrs.
Day 21:            Fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Day 22:            In Kathmandu free day with optional sightseeing tour.
Day 23:            Depart Kathmandu for international flight homeward bound.

Day 01:            Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport via respective airlines and countries, received by Foot and Shadow Walking Holiday staff and transfer to hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed our guide will brief with information on hotel, culture, do’s and don’ts, Jiri to Everest Base Camp trekking with welcome dinner.

Day 02:            Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
After breakfast our city guide take you on sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites with temples, monasteries, Stupa and old king’s palace after an enjoyable interesting tour back to hotel, preparation for Jiri to Everest Base Camp trekking.

Day 03:            Drive to Shivalaya 1,770 m via Jiri 1,900 m -07 hrs journey.
A long day, starting with an overland drive early morning from Kathmandu to Jiri unto Shivalaya village, this interesting scenic drive passing through interesting towns and villages through Himalayan foothills, through towns of Dhulkhel, Chrikot and then to Jiri after few good stops drive continues on the winding dirt road to the first overnight stop at Shivalaya village a fair size village with number of lodges for travelers

Day 04:            Trek to Bhandar (Chyangma) 2,195 m – 05 hrs
From Shivalaya walk to Bhandar a moderate trek, after a long day drive of previous day, morning starts with a an hour slow ascend to a small village of Sangbadanda, then on the gradual path passing rural farm villages and mixed forest, then reaching a stream with a climb through cool shade of rhododendron  pine, oaks tree lines, after few hours of morning walk reaching at Deurali pass at 2, 715 meters, after a break here for lunch a long descend for nearly two hours to Bhandar village for overnight stop, walk passes an interesting large Stupa enclosed inside a wall and then through villages and farm-fields till Bhandar or Chyangma village, this area are of mix tribes of people Tamangs, Newars, but predominantly Sherpa people.

Day 05:            Trek to Sete 2,575 m – 06 hrs.
Morning a downhill walk into forest and farm terraces and passing several farm villages to reach at Kenja village at 1,634m, Kenja a nice moderate size village, situated in a warm valley just beneath the high hills of Lamjura and Pikey danda, offering views of Numbur peaks. After Kenja, a steep uphill climb all the way to overnight stop at Sete village from here onwards the temperature gets cooler.

Day 06:           Trek to Junbesi 2,675m via Lamjura-la  3,530 m -06 hrs.

Starting the trek with a cool morning then heading towards Lamjuta-la pass with a slow steep climb into dense forest of rhododendron, pines and oaks trees then through many small farm lands and hamlets, after few hours of steady uphill walk reaching at the top of Lamjura pass with a big stupa and lodges, from here a long descend through forest of firs and rhododendron trees all the way to Sherpa village at Toctoc, from here continue walk on the gradual winding path to Junbesi, from the ridge looking at Junbesi way below, then with a final descend to Junbesi, a nice large village inhabited mostly by Sherpa people, this village with a nice interesting monastery and a high school sponsored by Sir Edmund Hillary Trust.

Day 07:         Trek to Nunthala (Manidingma) 2,190 m – 06 hrs.
After a wonderful time at Junbesi, morning walk leads on the winding smooth path with first glimpse of Mt. Everest with other snow capped mountains, after a break here head down to the river, after crossing the bridge with short climb to Ringmo village, stop here for lunch as time permits after leaving Ringmo, an hour of gradual slow climb into forest of pines and rhododendron trees then reaching at Trakshindu pass at 3,070m marked with mani and chortens with grand views of Numbur, Kusum Kangguru, Thamersarkhu and Kantega peaks.

From here long downhill to Nunthala through Takshindo village with an old monastery, continue descend into forest reaching a farmland on the outskirt of the village, on reaching bottom of Takshindo hill a short walk to Nuntahla also known as Manidingma, a large village of Rai tribe and Sherpa community.

Day 08:       Trek to Bupsa Danda 2,250 m – 06 hrs.
Air gets much cooler as the walk gets close to Khumbu area after Solu region, morning starts with an downhill through forest area to a bridge over Dudh Kosi River, from here cross the raging Dudh Kosi River, then on the winding uphill trail to Jubing village, area around with warm climate.

After Jubing an uphill walk to Kharikhola 2,200m, a large village with Sherpa and Magar inhabitants, after a  break here towards next hill, after crossing Kharikhola, then a steep climb for an hour to our overnight stop at Bupsa a small village, located on a ridge overlooking fabulous views of rolling hills and valleys.

Day 09:       Trek to Surkhe 2,295 m – 06 hrs.
From Bupsa a slow and steady walk into Khumbu area where air gets cooler from here onwards, morning walk starts with an uphill climb through mixed alpine forest.

Walk continues climbing over Kharte Dande pass at 3,880m high above the Dudh Kosi River to reach Puiyan village at 2,800m, a nice place in the middle of a forest.

From Puiyan after lunch on winding trail with view of Lukla town and its airstrip, from the ridge top, our route descend to Surkhe village for overnight stop.

Day 10:            Trek to Phakding 2,640m – 04 hrs
Morning on pleasant undulating trail close to Lukla, at Choplung village where trail from Lukla and Jiri joins, from here walk to Phakding for overnight stop, trek passes several villages and farm lands with great scenery of hills and valleys then finally reaching at Phakding village by the Dudh Kosi (river)


Day 11:            Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 05 hrs.
After Phakding walk beings to famous Namche Bazaar a major town of Khumbu region, as the walk leads on gradual path crossing river several time within pine and rhododendron forest.


On reaching entrance of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo and towards the last village of Jorsalle and continue walk on river banks, and then a long climb leading at Namche Bazaar for overnight stops.


Day 12:            Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
At Namche a necessary acclimatization and rest day, before heading higher altitude towards Everest base camp. Namche a moderate size village or a town with many shops, stores, banks and ATM with Cyber Café around, optional walk to Park museum with information of the area including grand vista of Mt. Everest and majestic Ama-Dablam peak.

For energetic people can take a hike to Everest View hotel, Khumjung and Khunde village located on the glacial valley beneath holy Khumbi-la peak (patron of Khumbu Sherpa’s)


Day 13:            Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.

From Namche walk leads with views of Everest, Kwangde, Tharmasarku, Ama-Dablam, after crossing Imjatse River to a small place Phunge-Tengawith few shops and lodges a popular lunch spot.


After lunch few hours climb into beautiful forest to reach at Thyangboche monastery for overnight stop. A great scenic spot with views of surrounding high peaks, here with time to visit the monastery and monks, priest on prayer.


Day 14:            Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m – 05hrs.

Catching view of Everest and surrounding peaks with Ama-Dablam, walk downhill to a steel bridge over Imjatse River, and then leaving the tree lines behind heading up to Pangboche village at 3,900 meters, the last permanent village before Dingboche.


From here a short climb to Somara for lunch and then continue afternoon walk with a last climb to Dingboche village for overnight stop.


Dingboche located at wonderful Imjatse valley with great vista of mountains including North Face of Ama-Dablam and Island Peak.

Day 15:            Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m – 05 hrs.

After Dingboche morning begins with steep climb for an hour commanding excellent vista, then on gentle trail most of the way to Thugla for lunch, where Khumbu glacier ends into a raging river, after a nice stop a steep uphill climb for an hour to Thulga pass with memorials of climbers who died climbing in mountaineering expeditions to Mt. Everest, Lhotse and other high mountains. From here a nice pleasant walk brings to Lobuche for overnight stop.


Day 16:            Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m and Everest Base Camp
5,364 m and return to Gorakshep – 06 hrs.

Today walk leads to our target and destination at Everest Base Camp, walk leads with gentle up for few hours then a short climb to Gorakshep walking on glacier and moraine, on reaching Gorakshep located beneath lofty Mt. Pumori and black hill of Kalapathar.

Form here walk continues to Everest Base Camp above Khumbu glacier and near Khumbu Ice Fall, on reaching base camp catch the fantastic views with exciting moment and then back to Gorakshep for overnight stop.

Day 17:            Hike to Kalapathar5,545 m trek to Pheriche 4,240m – 05 hrs.
Early morning climb on top of Kalapathar at 5,545 m, this will be the highest point of the adventure with awesome views of snowcapped peaks, includes Mt. Everest at close distance.

After great scenery descend to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue return trek to Thugla, here onwards on new route to Pheriche valley, can be windy in the afternoon after a nice pleasant walk reaching at Pheriche for overnight stop.


Day 18:            Trek to Thyangboche – 05 hrs.

Retrace journey to Thyangboche on losing altitude every hour and then, downhill walk with few short ups to Pangboche and to a bridge, with climb of few hours to Thyangboche and back into tree lines at Thyangboche for overnight stop.

Day 19:            Trek to Monjo 2,860m – 06 hrs.
After a grand time around high mountains of Khumbu, walk descend with a climb for an hour to Sanasa, from here a gradual path with short ups and downs to reach Namche Bazaar, after a break here walk back to Dudh Kosi river valley and to overnight stop at Monjo village near Sagarmatha National Park gate.

Day 20:            Trek to Lukla – 04 hrs.

Morning walk on a pleasant trail most of the way to reach at Phakding, and then with last climb for an hour to Lukla, at Lukla celebrate last night with fellow trekkers and staff including porters.
Day 21:            Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, on reaching Kathmandu airport, FSHT staff transfers you back to hotel around Thamel area with rest of the day free at leisure.


Day 22:            In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.
We reserve this day as contingency (spare day), in case of flight delay and cancellation due to bad weather which might happen sometimes, as the Himalayan weather can be unpredictable, if all goes well have a free day or one can book for short sightseeing tour around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.


Day 23:            Depart Kathmandu for international flight homeward bound.
Last day in amazing Nepal, after a wonderful time on Jiri to Everest Base Camp trekking with grand services of Foot and Shadow Walking Holiday Tours, as per your international flight departure and reporting time, our guide and staff transfer you to airport for your onward flight homeward bound or to next respective countries.
