Annapurna Circuit Trek

Welcome to the country of fascinating Buddhist cultures and mind-blowing views of high Himalaya, on Annapurna Circuit trekking with Foot and Shadows Walking Holiday Tours. Annapurna Circuit Trekking starts with a scenic drive to Lamjung area and entering at high beautiful Manang valley on following the raging glacial Marsyangdi River upstream right up to its source at Manang. With rest day at Manang for acclimatization exploring villages of strong Tibetan Buddhist culture and monasteries and then over the high Thorang-la pass leading to world deepest gorge of Kaligandaki River valley, after trekking through the holy Muktinath and charming town and villages of Jomsom-Marpha and Tatopani with constant views of snow capped peaks of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and Annapurna range. Trek leads back into enchanting forest of rhododendron at Ghorepani and hike to Poon Hill for stunning sunrise and wide panorama of mountains and then concluding this amazing Annapurna circuit trek at scenic touristic Pokhara where the Annapurna mountains reflects on its pristine Phewa / Begnas Lakes.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01:            Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:            In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.

Day 03:            Drive to Jagat 1,290 m via Beshishar 800 m – 08 hrs.

Day 04:            Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m – 05 hours.

Day 05:            Trek to Chame 2,670 m – 05 hours.

Day 06:            Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m – 05 hrs.

Day 07:            Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m – 05 hrs.

Day 08:            Rest day at Manang for local hikes and acclimatization.

Day 09:            Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m – 04 hours.

Day 10:            Trek to Thorong High Camp 4,600 m – 04 hrs.

Day 11:            Cross Thorong-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m – 07 hrs.

Day 12:            Trek to Marpha 2, 670 via Jomsom 2, 715 m – 06 hours.

Day 13:            Trek to Lete 2,480m – 06 hrs.

Day 14:            Trek to Tatopani 1,190m – 06 hrs.
Day 15:            Trek to Ghorepani 2,750 m – 06 hrs.

Day 16:            Trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,500m -05 hours walk.

Day 17:            Trek to Nayapul 1,100m and drive to Pokhara 860m.
Day 18:            Drive of fly back to Kathmandu.

Day 19:            International departure for home ward bound.

 

While in Pokhara with time enough time join in our exciting adventure sports

Day 01:            Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport via respective airlines and countries, received by Foot and Shadow Walking Holiday staff and transfer to hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed our guide will brief with information on hotel, culture, do’s and don’ts and Annapurna Circuit trekking with welcome dinner.

 

Day 02:            Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
After breakfast our city guide will take you on sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites with temples, monasteries, stupa’s and old king’s palace after an enjoyable interesting tour back to hotel, preparation for the trek to Annapurna Circuit trekking.

Day 03:            Drive to Jagat 1,290 m via Beshishar 800 m – 08 hrs.

Morning with interesting and scenic long drive towards Nepal mid west, journey leads to Beshishar town then on the dirt road to Khudi, Bhulbhule and Ngadi following the Marsyangdi River upstream, drive continues through rice terraces fields and villages to Syange, from here with a slow climb leaving the Marsyangdi River behind to reach first overnight stop at Jagat village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers.

Day 04:            Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m – 05 hours.

From Jagat village morning walk leads on a gradual winding path to Chamje, and back at Marsyangdi River to crossing on the eastern bank and into forested area, with superb views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges, as the walk advances on the wide path to a nice village of Tal Besi, Here for lunch break, and then another 2-3 hours walk leads at Dharapani village for overnight stop, Dharapani a nice village situated on the junction of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

Day 05:            Trek to Chame 2,670 m – 05 hours.

After Dharapani walk along the wide winding trail into serene rhododendron and pine forest passing villages of Bagachap and Danque, then to  Timang village from here onwards into more Buddhist culture village with grand view of Mt. Manaslu 8,163m / 26,781ft, from Timang village few hours trek leads to Koto and then to Chame town for overnight stop, Chame a large and major town of Manang area and as well a head quarter of Manang district.

Day 06:            Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m – 05 hrs.

From here onwards the air gets cooler and fresh as the walk leads close to mountains, morning walk leads through enchanting alpine forests of rhododendron and pine trees, following the Marshyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhratang village. From Bhratang village walk follows uphill through alpine woodland to Dhukure Pokhari a small place with few teahouses and lodge overlooking Chulu’s and Pisang peak, with a lunch break here, walk descends to lower Pisang village for overnight stop.

Day 07:            Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m – 05 hrs.

Pisang village offers great scenery of mountains and surrounding landscapes, from here altitude gains as the morning walk leads through forest and with a short uphill with super views of staggering Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu’s and Pisang peak. As the walk reach flat valley at Hongde village, from here onward tree lines disappear for barren, arid landscapes with cold, dry arctic climate. Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk reaches at Manang village.

Day 08:            Rest day at Manang for local hikes and acclimatization.

An important and necessary rest day to get acclimatize before heading higher elevation and to Thorang-la pass, in Manang short hike and explore Manang village and valley, Manang a large village situated on windswept valley at the bank of Marsyangdi River beneath Annapurna and Gangapurna mountain range, a nice walk uphill for views of Gangapurna Glacier and the Manang emerald Lake.

Day 09:            Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m – 04 hours.

After a good rest at Manang, walk leads towards Ghunsang village with uphill to Yak Kharka, an interesting high altitude trekking with super views of snowcapped mountains, then crossing a small stream river to reach Yak Kharka, a small settlement with tremendous views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Day 10:            Trek to Thorong High Camp 4,600 m – 04 hrs.

Morning walk advances around high area, heading closer to the base of Thorang-la as the walk leads to cross a bridge and then a climb along the river bank of Jarjung, as the walk leads at Thorung Phedi, here depending upon the physical conditions of the clients, if all goes well an hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for overnight stop.
Day 11:            Cross Thorong-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m – 07 hrs.

Big Day! the highlight of this great adventure, after an early breakfast walk leads to a long climb up to Thorang-la with a steep terrain and winding path to Thorung La Pass at 5,416 m / 17,700 ft. The highest point of this adventure offering super views of snowcapped peaks, and then a long descend to Muktinath at 3,800 m. On reaching Muktinath for overnight stop, a holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 12:            Trek to Marpha 2, 670 via Jomsom 2, 715 m – 06 hours.

After Muktinath, walking is much easier on moderate trails all the way with a big drop of 1,200m to Kaligandaki river valley, this pleasant walk leads to Kaligandaki river valley.  Morning walk reaching at Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang region with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River. After a stop at Jomsom a gradual walk to Marpha, a little gem with white painted houses, neat streets and well kept lodges. This place famous for apples and its products like cider, brandy and juice.
Day 13:            Trek to Lete 2,480m – 06 hrs.

From Marpha following Kaligandaki river downstream, reaching Tukuche village, and the walk to Larjung village, crossing high suspension bridge and then back into forested area of pines, oaks and rhododendron to reaching a nice Kalapani village, after a short stop walk to another lovely village with grand views of Mt. Annapurna I, Nilgiris and Dhaulagiri, a short downhill brings at Lete village for overnight stop.

Day 14:       Trek to Tatopani 1,190m – 06 hrs.
Walk from Kalapani and Lete leads to dramatic change landscapes and temperature, as the walk leads between two giant peaks of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna forming world deepest gorge. The first two hours of trek through Ghasa, a southern end of Mustang district dominated by Thakali people with fewer of this ethnic tribe till Tatopani, walk continues into warm sub-tropical climate all the way to the village of Tatopani passing through cascading Rupsi waterfalls. At Tatopani (Hot Spring) village with sub-tropic climate and vegetation, Tatopani is another nice village with large hot spring pools just by the bank of the River Kaligandaki.

Day 15:       Trek to Ghorepani 2,750 m – 06 hrs.

After a wonderful time at Tatopani, walk follows the river for a while and then diverts heading uphill through farms villages to reach at Chitre, from here an hour climb brings at Ghorepani village with super views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South including Vara-Shikar or Annapurna Fang, Ghorepani located beneath Pun Hill a view points  offering super wide angle views of world’s three highest peaks and range of other mountains with striking sunrise and sunset.

Day 16:      Trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,500m – 05 hours walk.

Morning an hour hike to Pun-Hill at 3,210m for stunning sunrise views over array of mountains from Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu to Annapurna and beyond Ganesh Himal including Mt. Machhapuchhre “The Fish Tail”. Trek continues on the gradual trail for a short period, and then a long descend from Ulleri village on the stone paved steps all the way to Tirkhedhunga for last overnight stop in the hills of Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 17:            Trek to Nayapul 1,100m and drive to Pokhara 860m.
After Tirkhedhunga, last day walk of this adventure leading downhill most of the way through farm villages to reach at Bhirethati by the river Modi, from here a short walk to Nayapul to end the final walk of this adventure, from here two hours drive to picturesque and touristic Pokhara for overnight stop by Phewa Lake.

Day 18:            Drive to Kathmandu.
Morning a drive to Kathmandu after a wonderful experience on Annapurna Circuit trekking, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities and shopping.

Day 19:            Depart Kathmandu for international flight homeward bound.
Last day in amazing Nepal, after a wonderful time Annapurna Circuit trekking with grand services of Foot and Shadows Walking Holiday Tours, as per your international flight departure and reporting time, our guide and staff transfer you to airport for your onward flight homeward bound or to next respective countries.
